Greeting card printing is very easy to do. You get a piece of paper, fold it in half, put a picture or graphics at the front, and write a message inside. It’s that simple to create custom print greeting cards for all types of occasions.

Although you can have variations to the simple greeting card printing process, the very basic elements found in print greeting cards would always be the same – the fold, the front, the inside message, and the back.

The Fold –

Whether it’s on the side or at the top, a greeting card is never complete without its fold. It’s the most obvious element that makes it a card.

The Front -

This part is the cover of the card. It usually has the picture or just the text, or even both. The front is what usually gets the attention and sets it apart from the others. It’s where you will find the tone of the greeting card printing, be it funny, romantic, serious, bright, and even playful at most times.

The Inside Message –

You basically buy print greeting cards because of the message you get from it. It reflects the thought that you would want to convey to its recipient. Others may have appropriate messages to suit what you feel. Still others are blank inside that you can write your own heartfelt message to send to your lovedone.

The inside of your card can also be a continuation of what you have started at the front. It may repeat the pictures or even add to the ones you already have. Normally, your inside message appears on the right hand side of your card when you open the fold, while the left side remains blank. But on a top-fold, the message can be found on the bottom half when you open your card.

Nowadays, there are additions to the standard greeting cards which make them more appealing. There are those that have multiple folded panels that look like a tri-fold brochure; there are also those that look like booklets for more text and image space.

The Back –

The back may not be something that a typical buyer would be interested in. It’s where you will find the name of the company that manufactured the greeting card, their logo, notice of copyright, as well as their contact information. If it’s custom greeting card printing, you can then add your own name and contact information, or even your personal stamp to make it more unique. Or if you don’t have anything to add to it, just leave it blank.

A typical greeting card has these four basic elements – fold, front, inside message, and back. If you want to create your own custom greeting card, knowing these basic elements can make it easy for you to design one not only for special occasions, but all year round.
