4 reasons why Gooruze will succeed

by BrianChappell Expert(October 2007) (rank 1st)

User Generated Content – I cannot think of a group of people who would better understand the importance of user generated content. Couple that with the fact Internet marketers are very savvy, and well coerced in the art of content creation. Needless to say there will not be a shortfall of UGC within a community of marketers.

Along with UGC is search traffic. If optimized properly Gooruze should see an abundance of search traffic. Long tail traffic I am sure will take this site to the next level.

A list Marketers - As if the search traffic from UGC isn’t enough, then having a network of A list marketers to launch the site from Beta will surely help. With the likes of Clay Cook founder of Ineedhits.com, Rachel Cook, Co-founder of Vibe Capital, Jackie Shervington, CEO of Ineedhits, Duncan Riley of TechCrunch, Andy Beal of Marketing Pilgrim, Brian Solis of PR 2.0, and Drayton Bird leading the way.

Ranking System – The ranking system is the backbone of the entire site. In my opinion it keeps articles interesting by further incentivizing marketers to write quality content.

Networking – Gooruze has many features that allow marketers to branch out, respond, and collaborate with one another. It is a great community to get your face out there per se. If you are just starting in your marketing career, or are a seasoned vet, looking to further your skill set, then Gooruze is the place for you.

The culmination of all these factors, working together should help Gooruze’s community arise from the pre mature early days into a wealth of marketing knowledge and advice.

I too think the site will keep growing and has a lot of potential.  Its early days yet  -but really to me the whole ranking things irrelevant - really don't care if i'm #1 with a big gold star or the bottom of the list -as long as i'm contributing to the community and doing a bloody fine job as a marketing dude i'm happy.  To me the whole ranking things a little egotistical

But the user generated content, meeting of minds and networking potentials of the site will keep me coming back again and again and hopefully before long really stepping up my contribution level, thereby improving my credibility level - oops there goes MY ego now

True, I don't think the ranking system, as in if you are ranked #5 in the system is a big deal.

It's merely for the articles and comments. As the community grows, and there are more and more articles written and posted, the rankings will only help weed out the crappy articles.

If there were no rankings at all I bet people would be more enticed to post second rate articles, or maybe not post at all.

Some people like the ego lift, others don't, but the ranking system certainly doesn't hurt IMO.

To sum it up, I think the ranking system keeps people in check.

True, it probably came across like that. I was also thinking about making a post about how it could fail as a follow up :-)

You should write it. When I first read the title I read it as "4 reasons why Gooruze won't succeed".
