Copy Location Targeting Using the Google AdWords Editor

by danlondon Expert(October 2007) (rank 3rd)

I write a blog that focuses on how to use the Google AdWords Editor and figured I'd post a few of the entries on Gooruze. He is a post on how to use the editor to geo target using the editor.

I recently rebuilt a number of campiagns in a rather large account. I broke a few big campaigns in a large amount of smaller ones to allow for better budgeting. Using the editor, I could work on them one piece at a time. One thing I found during my work, was that I could easily transfer my location targeting to my new campaigns. It isn't very intuitive, and after a bit of digging I found the answer on the Google AdWords Editor Help Pages:

To copy language or location targeting settings from one campaign to another, follow these steps:

1. In the tree view, select your account name.
2. On the Campaigns tab, select the campaign with the targeting settings you want to copy.
3. Go to the Edit menu > Copy Special > Copy Campaign Targeting.
4. Select one or more campaigns where you want to paste the targeting settings.
5. Go to the Edit menu > Paste Special and select one of the pasting options:
* Paste Language Targeting
* Paste Location Targeting
* Paste Language and Location Targeting
(You can also click the Paste links in the edit panel of the destination campaign.)
