I would like to show you how to collect effective testimonials for
your website/salespage.

You hear it everywhere...

You need to "ask" to receive.

This also counts when it comes to getting testimonials.

I can't stress enough how important it is to showcase
what others are saying about your product or service.

You may have the greatest product and the best copy,
but it is what others have to say about your product
that often means the difference between gaining or
losing a sale!

Here is a great idea to increase the quality of your
testimonials...

You can send out an unadvertised bonus gift after
your customer has ordered from you, and send
them to a special page that you have created on
your website, where a simple feedback form asks
them a few questions like:

- Can you tell me which results you have received
from using my product/Ebook/service?

- Would you recommend my product to others? If
so, who do you think would most benenefit from?

- Did you find it easy to order/download from my
website?

- Etc...

Then simply ask permission to turn their answer into
a testimonial for your website.

Most people will give you permission to do this.

It may also be a good idea to offer them a link to their
own website in return for a testimonial.

in a highly professional format that compliments the
style and color of your website, and never lose time

I don't think there is a "right" answer to your question Brian.

I think many factors come into play, including the price of the product, if it is a shipped product versus a service, how emotive it is, cost etc.

That is why I hate ebay's feedback system - it expects you to do it immediately, so all you are really commenting on is the sale process, not the quality of the product.

I think you have to test it to determine what the best time is for your business.  If it is a shipped product, why does it have to be an email contact?  What about including a personal message in the package asking them to provide feedback in a few days time.

Good idea.

Question for you all. How soon after them placing an order do you think you should send them that email? Too soon and it my be invasive, too far out and they might have forgotten about the order.

I think 7 days after receipt is a goodly amount of time to contact purchasers. As an alternative similar to what ebookseller is suggesting, with their order you can package a code for a 10% discount if they return to your site and take your customer satisfaction survey. Incentives like that can be very valuable not only in getting return business but getting feedback in general.
