Some Useful Tips For New Marketers!

Thought I would throw this up to help newbies understand some basics (and not so basics) of online marketing. Take a second to read on.

Many of the programs I have seen or that Iam involved withcompletely mislead new members in regards to marketing the opportunity. Let me help you avoid wasting time on the following:

(1) PPC - through google, yahoo or others. Trust me - do not waste your money until you find great niche markets to promote your program to. You will be competing for top words with the top guys & gals in other opportunities. You will receive click throughs from other competing advertisers trying to eat through your budget. Very expensive proposition unless you find awesome niche market keywords to promote your program! Finding these keywords is an art, but some of my better ones have come from offline sources (TV, PRINT MEDIA, etc)

(2) Ezine Solo Ads - can be another waste of money. You will get a few leads from them, but mostly you are promoting to lists that are made up of other online entrepreneurs that want nothing to do with your opportunity. These solo ads may seem cheap as compared to PPC, but they are not worth a $1 each in my opinion. Be very selective in who you work with as I have had success with only a handful!! Sign up for the newsletter first & see if the owner is a major spammer to you! Ask the owner if you can submit an article for his next Ezine - you can get a freebie that way.

(3) Forum Posting - trust me, do not waste your efforts. Just go read any of these forums and see who is posting. Hundreds & Thousands of spammers, that's who! Again, spend your effort on finding a niche market forum that is not full of spam posts!

(4) Social Networking Sites - be a real person & develop online relationships. Mention your program somewhere down the line & somewhere on your page, but don't throw it down people's throats! I think most newbies should spend more time on myspace, yuwie, and the other social networking sites posting "make $1000 a day.... $10k a week". Start by developing relationships on these sites. You can find other like-minded people & maybe even learn to earn from others that have! No spamming - you will quickly turn into just another social netwroking nightmare!

Anyway, that is a quick post to anyone trying to promote. Avoid wasting money & time on what everyone else is doing - find a niche & think outside of the box to succeed!

To Your Success!

Yeah - what he sez! :)

Some great points in there.  I've been rolling the big old marketing boulder uphill to my bosses for some time now - and have come across many of the same issues you point out in your article.

The one other thing i'd add - persistance!  All of this community based "stuff" takes time to reap any real results.  Sometimes the "powers that be" don't see time - they see $$  - part of our roles can also be to convince internal staff and management of this.

And also rather than paying for pay per clicks, (Which we did look into) - building a strong community with blogs and websites in your industry could be a more productive way to go.  Unless you have plenty $$ to pour out - the cost of buying visitors will more than likely be more than your profit - especially if you're selling a product where the margins are lower (Such as the one i'm working on)

I always say - a lot of social/ community marketing isnt rocket science - get out there, be yourself, and if you're a likeable person in real life  -that will come across in virtual life and help out with everything you write/post about on the interwebs :)

Good stuff though!  I'm thinking there should be a Gooruze group for "Noobs" - i'd be first in there!!!
