Google Overload

Is it just me or does Google seem to add a new option or service for marketers every 5 minutes? Every time I’ve finished mastering the latest Google service or tool another one pops up or they change the one I’ve just mastered!

Whenever we get accredited as a Authorized Google Company for something we find something else we should get accredited for!

So if you thought it was all keywords and bids I’m sorry but you have a whole lot more learning to do.

Ok here is my current list of Google things to master if you are into online marketing.
  • Adwords (ok that ones easy, remember position preference & day parting ;-)
  • Adwords Conversion Optimiser (ok, that’s new!)
  • Website Optimiser (we all love multi-variant testing)
  • Campaign Optimiser (do they have to call everything ‘optimiser’?)
  • Adwords Editor v4 (fantastic tool)
  • Content Match (ok that’s easy too?)
  • Content Match CPA (there you go they’ve changed it)
  • Site Targeting (Easy? Ok they just added ad placement options)
  • Google Video Ad
  • Google Image Ad
  • Google Gadget Ad (newest and coolest product)
  • Google Mobile Ad
  • Google Local Business Ad
  • Report Centre (have you used “search query” and “placement” performance options?)
  • Google Analytics
  • Google Base
  • Google Webmaster Tools
  • Custom Search Engines
  • Universal Search
  • Google Maps
  • Goggle Reader
  • iGoogle
  • Google Checkout
  • YouTube
  • Google Earth
  • Google News
  • Ok I think I’ve made my point.
  • Ok what Google things have I missed that marketers should be aware of?

Good article Jon - I'm a big fan of the Custom Search Engines. Found one the other day for songs - just type in any keyword lyrics you could remember and it would be scarily accurate in coming back with the song you were after. Would be very useful in a record store.

Well on the flip side of AdWords is AdSense...successful integration and monetization using AdSense is a challenge for many online marketers.

Also Feedburner (one of their recent acqusitions) - for anyone with a blog, Feedburner offers range of helpful feed services - not to mention another advertising opportunity with their blog & feed advertising program
