A surf clothing manufacturer was not doing well in the rankings and became our SEO customer. Typical small business, no real competitors, but lots of references to surf clothing in articles, blogs and affiliate sites. Literally, two weeks after the sale, the site got to #1 for the desired keywords and has stayed there since. We had started with linking two days after the sale, so we tried to convince ourselves than our links tipped the balance within one week. We followed up with the on-page SEO work and it didn't affect the rankings. Since we could not prove it either way, we took reluctant credit for the success and the customer was delighted. He gave us a great testimonial. The moral?
