I would like to hear what other people have run into that you have personally witnessed or feel strongly about that emphasizes the fact that, Google is the all knowing. Here are some examples: Google knows if you own multiple domain names Google knows if you have several sites on the same IP Google reads javascript and external javascript files to check to see if you are trying to deceive the engines - I have seen this when a site was banned in google and after we contacted google to find our why, google's reply was that the client needed to make changes to their external javascript file. Not sure the exact wording, but it had something to do with hidden text. I do not have proof of this one, but I believe it is true. This one stirred up a lot of stuff when designers got involved... Google is getting a better understanding of duplicate content due to dynamic pages and will no long penalize your site for it. Google knows the difference between an actual store store site and an affilaite website and URL's I am sure I can think of more, but would love to hear from others. Wutcha' got? | |||||||

October 2007 Not heard the one about the H1 tag.
I do know that Google knows if you have a headache and will send you some aspirin. ;-) Seriously, Google knows about your clever 3-way linking efforts. Seriously people, when Google's indexed all of these links, it's not that hard to figure out common link partners. Reply

November 2007 I had not heard about the font size issue either. That's really interesting to me because we are considering re-doing our CSS to include font-families and some other decorative type stuff that our designer assures the wonks like me are prettier.
Al, do you have any data or a cite on that H1 issue? I can definitely use that to derail, um, change a project after the holidays. @brian -- do you know how spooky it is to look at someone's machine and show them their entire search and click history neatly broken down into month, day and time? There is even a running log of web activity. George Reply
