Without getting overly political, I don’t think the great American tax rebate will do much to stimulate our economy. Most people will use it to pay already existing debt such as credit card bills or mortgages and I don’t think overall consumer spending will increase that much. However, this is a simple way to change this…to use your tax rebate money to stimulate “The” economy and “Your” economy. Use your tax rebate to buy a premium domain name. For instead of buying consumable “goods” that have little or no future value (or paying off goods that you’ve already purchased), you are buying an appreciable asset that can generate income (from parking revenue and or site development) while you own it. Now, based upon my circumstances, I believe that I will receive $1,800 from our government. Here are examples of domain names I’ve could have purchased for roughly the size of my upcoming rebate check (sourced from DNJournal Domain Sales): Populararticles.com ($2,188) With a little more money, I could have purchased: Eventpromoters.com ($3,000) With the right development strategy, each of these (and many other domains) offers me the opportunity to earn income while substantially growing the value of my asset. So, when that check comes in the mail later this year, Americans will be faced with two choices. Most Americans will “consume” their rebate until it’s all gone…though perceptive folks who smartly invest that money in a premium domain will reap financial rewards well into the future. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.semportland.com%2Fdomaining%2Fuse-your-tax-rebate-to-purchase-a-premium-domain-name%2F'; addthis_title = 'Use+Your+Tax+Rebate+To+Purchase+A+Premium+Domain+Name'; addthis_pub = ''; | |||||||

February 2008 Well, I just bought my first domain name too, but it's not one I plan on selling. I have plans for it for myself. I like the idea of buying and selling domains for profit but my money would probably be wasted because like RKi says, no time to develop it into anything, and also I don't trust my judgment to buy one that would age well!

February 2008 So true, but I find myself already owning 30-50 good domain names that I feel I could make into something given time, but time is one thing I don't have. Even if I were to purchase a premium domain name I don't know where I'd get the time to do anything with it. I currently own the domain name, www.atantamillionaire.com and would love to do something with it...just can't find the spare time! Reply

February 2008 I love this idea, Todd. I just bought my first domain (yeah, I'm a noob), and the thought of buying a domain that could later sell for more money is pretty exciting. Thanks for the idea and the link to the domain sales site.
