I started using Twitter all the time about a month ago and have found it to be a really useful tool. I can check out the latest posts by some of the top SEM bloggers, find out news as it happens, and even see what my own friends/colleagues are doing.

There are a few things that I wish some of the users would do to keep me from stop following them.

You Had a Muffin? I Don’t Care

I follow quite a few people who talk SEM all day. They Twitter quite a bit of valuable information. I hate when I get a number of Twits (Twitters?) saying that they are getting a cup of coffee, eating a yummy muffin or sitting on the runway. A Twitter saying LaGuardia has a security line 2 hours long = GOOD. A Twitter saying you just washed your hands at LaGuardia = BAD. I’m following you because you know SEM, not because I think you are cool.

Keep it Simple

Most of the Twitter users I follow are people who write quite a bit of content each day. When they use Twitter, they are pretty good at letting their followers know exactly what the link included is about. The text limit is pretty short, but long enough to give a quick synopsis.

Follow Random People

Look through who people are following. I try to pick 2 random people to follow each week. I have found out a few things that I never would have otherwise.
