I originally wrote this article 2 years ago as I was approaching my 50th birthday. Since I am now just a few weeks away from my 52nd birthday, the sentiment is still the same. Musings of a 50 Year Old Marketer Glancing at the calendar the other day it occured to me that I'll be 50 years old next week! Me? Half-a-Century? According to statistics on life expectancy, I've already lived over half of mine. It all happens so fast, doesn't it? You wake up one day and suddenly so much time has passed. And the universal questions you ask yourself are, "Have I made the most of it?", "Did I do the best I could?", "Could I have done more?" Each individual has to come to those conclusions on their own. What I have decided is this ... it doesn't matter. Missed opportunities, mistakes, "coulda, woulda, shoulda" ... those are all in the past. In my view what really matters is that I've learned something from them and I resolve to make the most of the time I have NOW. I guess what I'm saying is that the value of taking action, of "just doing it," can't be emphasized enough. Because that common dream killer - known as procrastination - can be the leading cause of future regrets. Ask any entrepreneur what is the one business decision they regret making and 9 out of 10 will agree it's that they didn't start sooner. And whether or not your business is successful ... not trying for fear of failing is a failure on its own.So apply that to the present day and think about this ... what will you look back on years from now and wish you had done today? Whatever it is ... "just do it". Win or lose, being able to say "At Least I Tried", is something to be proud of. (iamsbm) | |||||||

May 6th I think most if not all of us are bitten by the procrastination bug - which in turn can lead us to regret things because we make the issue too big when it's really a small issue. Reply
