In the world of Internet marketing there are many voices. For entry-level site owners the task of prioritizing their to-do list and effectively determining where to start can be overwhelming. There is so much to do. The primary goals of a successful Internet marketer is threefold… establish credibility, provide authentic value, and create a vertical, compliant, and highly-visible web site. If these three goals are achieved, you will enjoy success and longevity in the Internet marketing world. Three simple goals, three simple thoughts… but achieving these three simple things is not easy. It will require knowledge, research, understanding, hard work, and most of all… tenacity. Let’s begin with the first goal… establish credibility. Depending on whom you are and the products or services you offer, this goal can be readily achieved or realized by much struggle and angst. For the entry-level entrepreneur getting there will be a struggle. The entry-level entrepreneur will have to rely on their ability to achieve goals two and three in order to find success in goal one. Goal two… provide authentic value. This goal and concept will make or break your Internet marketing endeavor. In order to succeed, any Internet marketer must be able to bring authentic value to the Internet community. Research will be required in order to choose a valuable “niche-market” and this choice must be coupled with products or services that will generate value for the customer first and the marketer second. Goal three… create a vertical, compliant, and highly-visible web site. That’s a mouthful… and much easier said than done. In the three elements mentioned in this goal it is safe to say that element one and two will be the easier to achieve. If you notice, I did say easier… not easy. It requires a significant amount of research and study to plan, structure, map, and develop a vertical content compliant web site. The definition of vertical content is simply this… original, truly valuable, well-written, accurate information that pertains directly to your category, the needs of your audience, and the Internet community at large. Just what is the definition of highly visible? The answer is simple… first page listings for your category in the major Internet search engines. Better still… a number one listing on the first page. Some will argue that a listing on the first three pages is acceptable, and that argument is duly noted and acceptable to many. For my standards however, it must be page one and hopefully the first result on page one. In my opinion, the third element of the third goal listed in this article has become the most difficult goal to achieve for the average Internet entrepreneur. It is no problem for the online marketer who has the hottest widget in the world with a pre-disposition to high demand. It is also no problem for the Internet Company who has the financial backing to brand their site through paid advertising. This article is for those who embody the true spirit of the Internet entrepreneur. The marketers who have to rely on their expertise, savvy, hard work, and skill to claw their way to the top in order to achieve the success they deserve. So… is there a relationship between Internet marketing and RSS-XML that bears mentioning? Is there any truth to the argument that RSS use and mastery can give site owners a significant edge in the realm of Internet marketing? I think so… in fact, I know so… and many others who leverage RSS to increase their earnings will certainly agree. RSS is comprised of every element that savvy Internet marketers work tirelessly to build into their online businesses. These elements are compliance, vertical original content, and a visibility factor that takes online marketing to a new level when executed properly and in a valid manner. RSS is the single most powerful tool in the online marketer’s arsenal. The good news… it’s free to use. RSS is “white-hat” and it is a vehicle whereby site owners can distribute their site content, products, and services without the fear of duplicate content penalties for the associated sites who choose to assist in the distribution of the feed content. RSS is the adopted standard of Internet content syndication. So why don’t more developers and online marketers use RSS? Many entry-level marketers and developers simply do not understand its power or significance in relation to Internet marketing. But… that is changing. RSS is one of the fastest growing “user categories” on the web. Also worth mentioning, compliant XML technologies are popping-up by the handfuls that offer site owners ways to leverage the technology to increase their effective use of RSS. If you are an online marketer and you do not use RSS, do NOT be intimidated by the technology… it is not as hard to use as one might think. RSS is your best friend, learn to embrace it.
