A group to share tips on writing news and articles and getting the most out of gooruze | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Blog posts 1-9 of 9 21 Jan I decided to wait a couple of months before talking about this publicly, because I wanted to verify its validity with a few more sites. It appears that the domain name and the external links of a new website help get it not only in the index faster, but also within the top 100 SERPs. In particular, if your domain name is keyword centric and related to the genre of your website, and if you frequently link out to websites that are related to your genre, Google appears to be showing those sites preferential treatment. Although I won't provide examples of the sites I've observed this behavior with, I will say that it's a total of a dozen individual websites. Coupled with moderate submissions to social networks, something as simple as picking a good keyword-centric domain name and frequently publishing original articles that reference and link out to websites within your genre, you're giving your website the best chance to quickly get into Google's SERPs. I've seen this happening somewhat on Live too, but mostly on Google.
03 Jan I've been having some problems lately posting articles. Here's what I think the problem was, in case it's happening to you too. No + or = signs in the title. I know these are unconventional characters for a title, but they didn't work, nonetheless Once I turned off the bullet feature in the body, it seemed to work also. Also, be sure to check your article once its posted, to make sure its really there. I've seen some "blanks" be posted.
23 Dec I've just had a look through some of the things in the reported section, and I noticed some of them were to do with advertising or promoting your business. You are allowed to promote your business, but it should be a little bit more subtle. Some of the spam isn't related to online marketing (unless you count that they link to their website...), and some of them look more like a PR ad. Something that you could do is to perhaps write the content like, "How to do ____" and then at the bottom you could put a signature like, "(insert name here) is the (insert title here) for (insert company and product name here)."
17 Oct We are trying to keep this site clean and tidy. Hope you can help us. Not sure where to post certain information. Here is a guide...
17 Oct You can add related article links to anyones article. Why do this? It helps people navigate through relevant content. Note: It is reciprocal... if you link to an article... it automatically links back.
17 Oct If you add tags to articles it helps boost the article in the search results. Please dont spam the tags, just add relevant tags. By the way - any member can add tags to anyones article, and news item. You can also add a tag that someone else has already added.. this boosts it even further!
09 Oct Member rank improves from a number of factors including: 1. writing articles that are well ranked by other Gooruze members, or 2. commenting on articles, or 3. answering questions, or 4. commenting on blogs, or 5. commenting in forums or groups (and getting ranked positively for the comments and answers you have given), or 6. writing blog posts, your own Gooruze blog, groups, forums. In all these cases the higher ranked the member who is voting on your content; the more “points” you get towards your own membership ranking. We can detect anyone trying to game the system (i.e. creating multiple accounts etc), which is a breach of Conduct. If you click on “members” in the top bar you will see the highest ranked members ad be able to see how many comments, articles and votes they have made…. Regular visits to Gooruze also help your ranking as your membership points degrade over time when you are away for an extended period (your rank is restored to 100% when you return to the site at anytime)
09 Oct Voting is a crucial part of the Gooruze site – it ensures articles are ranked so members can enjoy quality information and save time sifting through millions of posts. Advice voting is shown at the bottom of each article using a 5-star system where 5 stars is the best score.
We also provide for votes on comments just move your mouse over the star rating next to the comment and click on the star rating you want to give and magically the stars go from gold to “green”.
A Gooruze tip! Make sure you are logged in or otherwise you will be anonymous in your vote. Votes help your member ranking - the higher your ranking the more influence you will have when you vote.
