November 2007 Like your style Paul - good way to get some conversation going. From my perspective a "digital agency" is an agency concerned with delivering online and mobile communication strategies, campaigns and systems. Reply

November 2007 hehe. I just read your comment below and it's good to see people stirring the melting pot. My take on "digital" is one part timing and one part not knowing your brand. I got a good feel for this as I went from a design firm to an interactive agency to an internet marketing & design firm that tried to change to a "digital marketing agency." Ifyou've ever read take a Stand For Your Brand, there are some great lines in there about most "agencies" not knowing what they really stand for. Are we "interactive", are we "integrated", are we "digital" and so on. I saw many agencies start off as as advertising agency then they added marketing so they became "integrated" then they added multimedia/Flash and became "interactive" then in the past few years you've got agencies that do Search marketing, Analytics, Design, Development, Strategy and decided to call themselves "digital." If you look at how the top agencies get ranked, you tend to see "Top 50 Interactive Agencies" and it lists all of the big guys.
Just my two cents at 2:30am. I think it's time for bed. Reply

November 2007 Hi BJ, let's just call it marketing - means we won't have to keep changing our business cards all the time! Cheers Paul feel free to stir away Reply

November 2007 We refer to our studio as "digital" imaging. Since shedding the not-so-environmentally safe film and print processing many years ago. Using the term digital, I hope in our case, will be interpreted as being well versed with hardware and software.

November 2007 Hi Jsondy, thanks for responding. As you can probably guess, I posted my comment to stir things a bit - with several hundred people signed up to this group, and having seen no one bother posting anything, I thought it fun to see if anyone actually looks at the damn thing. Glad to hear you're doing the green thing - whereabouts are you based? Cheers Paul

November 2007 Your title question sure did attract my attention. Over the course of my career, I've embraced new technologies as they relate to B2B marketing; beta testing one of the first bulk email systems, adopting PDFs for workflow at its onset etc. Now, sometimes, with everything changing so quickly, I lose focus and need to recapture that edge to stay competitive; if it exists anymore. Attempting to use Gooruze as a vehicle to "hone" my Web2.0 skills while converting my stagnant e-portfolio into a blog-style website to showcase work on a regular basis and offer some design tips along the way. Where is Traverse City, Michigan you ask. Northwest corner of Michigan's lower peninsula, on Grand Traverse Bay just north of Sleeping Bear Dunes. An incredibly beautiful area of the upper Midwest, too bad the economy isn't as beautiful.
