Australian Online Marketers

Anyone here going to Adtech in Sydney this year?

I just saw on facebook SMX has joined up with Barry Smyth's Search Strategies to create SMX Sydney. That's great news for Australia - I look forward to seeing Australian Gooruze members there.

It appears to me, that Australian business community is somewhat slow in fully adopting online marketing and take it seriously as a way of attracting new clients.

Having recently been searching for several products for my house, I was amazed  that many of these searches were quite commerical in nature, generated no paid adverts. 

When I did manage to find a company's website, I was disappointed as many were just "brochure-ware" - just HTML version of their Yellow Pages adverts. 

I know we have some great web talent in Australia capable of presenting a business in a positive light and awesome marketing talent capable of getting the visitors there.  Now all we need is the business owners to step up and be proud to have an onlne presense.
