October 2007 Any good places to meet where we could get food/beer/etc and have wireless web access?

October 2007 Dan, As you know, we have been meeting at the CArolina Ale house at Brier Creek. The only problem is that all the feedback I get from people is that it is too loud and I have to agree. It is hard to hear someone at the other end of the table. free wifi- Panera, caribou coffee, someones house or office?, most small coffee shops, not sure what bars have free wifi and would be able to accomodate us? Including you and I, I think about 10 people showed up to the last one I held. Reply

October 2007 I think that a business that would cater to business groups that offered wireless, beer, sectioned seating would be a great business to start up in an urban area.

October 2007 I actually wanted to get an old abandoned building and get a bunch of independent online marketers to work out of it and Co-Op the place. Would you guys want to roll on that?

October 2007 Start a new post for this and maybe with 3 or 4 of us, we can mobilize something.

November 2007 there are enough coffee shops...it should have desks on the top floor and then a few meeting rooms if you need to meet with clients...open spaces...
bottom floor could be a rented out to a variety of small merchants looking for space. Reply

November 2007 I like the idea, kind of like hair stylists that are independant, but rent the space to cut clients hair. I would be more interested if we were actually buying the building, not renting it. If we would put $$ into renovations, I want to own it. And if there was another source of revenue involved.... coffee bar and internet cafe type place.

November 2007 So... It's a good idea. Now what?
I will be looking to rent some space come January.
I would rather buy something.
If we are going to do this, we need to mobilize.

November 2007 Def need to get together and add this to one of the topics. A lot more involved then you think. I would think we would want to set up a corp and purchase it that way. also have in writing who owns what shares, who makes final decisions, and responsibilities BEFORE we even get started to avoid issues and arguments later on down the road. Business plan would need to be in place, where is the money coming from to purchase, etc... I may contribute some funds to purchasing a building, but to do it correctly, I think we are looking at way past January. Reply

November 2007 Agreed, we would not look to close a co-op in Jan. But we should mobilize soon. If I know that we are going to try to pull this off, I would hold off on my Jan purchase. :)

October 2007 Dan, should these be in addition to our online marketing/beer meetings that we have every month or two?

October 2007 That would be great. Integrate the Gooo meetings into those meetings. Great group of people, with some amazing ideas.

October 2007 If we got enough people together, I'm sure we could get a comp room somewhere.
