| I've been online since the late 90's. I've seen a lot of changes in how things are done. I've seen a lot of changes in myself. I've gone from being the one-man-army of designer/developer/advertiser/salesman/ceo/janitor, to just Internet Consultant dude. Less slashes, more money, more free time. Can't beat it. So here's what I actually do, I look for inefficiencies. Ever see the movie Armageddon with Bruce Willis? Remember that scene where he and his crew are first shown the drilling machine NASA built and how they just tore it apart? That's what I like to do to websites. Bell and whistles very rarely help make a purchase. Toss 'em. Toss everything that doesn't have a purpose. I hear you, "you're just going to tell me to make a bunch of changes so I'll hire you to make them!" Well, actually, no. I'm quite happy just consulting with you and letting you know what needs to be done. I'll even type it all up in a pretty document that you can pass on to your in house team or to what ever contractor you hire. Ain't I nice. :) Besides, you probably wouldn't want me heading up a website project for you anyway. I require my clients to do things like 'set goals' and 'think logically' which really seems to bother most folks these days. That being said, many of my consulting clients turn into full service clients and have me do all sorts of things for them. And I'm quite happy with that, too. | ||
