According to the latest Nielsen Global Online Survey on internet shopping habits, more than 85% of the world's online population has used the internet to make a purchase, increasing the market for online shopping by 40% in the past two years.Bruce Paul, VP, Customized Research, Nielsen US, said "When The Nielsen Company conducted its first global survey into internet shopping trends two years ago, approximately 10% of the world's population (627 million) had shopped online. And emarketer has just released a report saying that 82.5% of the world's population doesn't have access to the internet..

Spooky, no?

Some thing's never change. Seemingly contradictory reports from reputable sources are nothing new in the online marketing world.

Which is why we all need to  take everything we're told with a huge spoonful of salt.

As they say in the classics: "Trust no-one."

Oh, I see, it's 85% of the online population.

So napkin maths gives us 85% of 17.5% = 15% of the global population shopped online.

So, marketing 101 question:" Where's everybody else ( the remaining 85% of the population) shopping?"
