Claim their business listing in such places as Google, Yahoo, Merchant Circle etc. The small business listing is the backbone of local search. This is the information that searchers first see about your business. It is very important to have this information up to date. Unfortunately many small business do not take the time to look into what is listed about them. Palore has some interesting data. They looked at heath & beauty businesses on the West Coast. They found 45% of businesses who advertise online also claim their business listing, but that 18% of those who do not advertise online actually claimed their listings. Hmmm…I would think it is a safe assumption to say that you would find similar percentages in other fields and locations. There are a lot of unclaimed listing out there. Is yours one of them?
