To Friend ... or Not to Friend?

With almost every social network you join, this question comes up: Should I accept friend requests from people I don't know?

On LinkedIn, I usually accept those requests. On Facebook, I don't -- because I have much more personal info. in my Facebook profile than I do just about anywhere else.

I have two friend requests here on Gooruze right now from people that I don't think I know. I don't have any personal info. here, so that doesn't really concern me. I wonder if the member ranking system is influenced in any way by the quantity and quality of your Gooruze friends. Hmmmmmmm.........
