More often than not, admins slap on the forum guidelines, rules, and policies only as an afterthought, after experiencing difficulties in managing their message boards. Forum guidelines, rules, and polices should be carefully thought-out, written, and put in place before opening an online community to the public. Forum rules serves the following: 1. Set the standards [...]

In a real community policies, rules, and guidelines exists to keep everything in order. They are just as important in any online community. The ideal forum is one that regulates itself but we are one lucky owner or administrator if we can create something like it. We usually need forum policies, rules, and guidelines if we [...]

A message board seems like a complex piece of machinery beyond the grasp of regular netizens like us, or so we thought. We confess, the first forum install we did was more confusing than enlightening, especially since we cannot find all needed directions from start to finish in one page. However, several installs later, we were confidently breezing through the whole process.

We documented the process, albeit not in detail, and thought to share it with those who want to know how to create a forum. For this exercise, we will use the popular and free forum script phpBB3. However, the ...

We are partial to free forum scripts. They are quite good and absolutely free, what could be better? The two most commonly attributed weaknesses for a free message board software are security and support.

We say all forum scripts are hackable, even the paid ones, so the best thing any forum owner should do regardless of script is to regularly back-up his/her forum. With regards to support, most free bulletin board systems have enthusiastic communities willing to help newbies set-up their forums. It’s a good way to network with other administrators as well. That’s what we call hitting two birds with ...

We first joined a forum 7 years ago and forums are even more popular now. Fact, there is no sign that message boards will stop mushrooming all over the web soon. With an estimated 1.2 billion internet users worldwide, it is always possible to find new subniches within niches.

It doesn’t matter what our interests are, there’s always like-minded people online seeking to join a community attuned to their needs at want. It can be a WAHM forum (Work at Home Moms), a mustang forum, a dinar forum (for people buying and selling the Iraqi dinar), or a whaletail forum (and ...

We had a conversation with Lela Iskandar about Alexa, Yahoo’s web info company, not the Alexa Lynn or Alexa Nikolas frequently searched for by surfers. So we thought of giving Alexa a visit. We don’t really rely on the Alexa rank as we assume ReapMoneyOnline’s intended audience don’t bother with the Yahoo or Alexa toolbar.

ReapMoneyOnline’s is only a bit more than a month old since it’s first post so we don’t really expect to see a graph for the traffic. But we did have a pleasant surprise on the location of our visitors. Here’s the list: 1. United Kingdom 2. United States 3. ...

Blogging and blog hopping is addictive. :D We’re supposed to be doing something else this hour but ended up surfing some blogs and writing a post. There’s hardly any pro blogger who haven’t heard of Aaron Wall. He’s an SEO expert who will provide an SEO solution for $500.00 an hour.

Yes, that’s how respected he is in the SEO consultation community. But he’s actually a regular guy after all, as my-inspirational-quotes.com, or rather, it’s owner , has inadvertently discovered. In his post Exposed! Aaron’s Website Failures, Lela Iskandar found three (3) sites by the SEO guru that aren’t doing as ...

Niche marketing has been getting a major buzz. Fact, some bloggers have made it their niche, like NicheGeek. We’re really glad we stumbled into this blog from RetiredPay. NicheGeek offers to place a link for other bloggers in exchange for a review, see this post: Bloggers - Get A Free Link From NicheGeek.Com. But even without the offer, we’d still do it. Why? Because this blog complements ReapMoneyOnline. It has a lot of informative, inspiring, and outrageously funny (hey, it doesn’t mean we have to be dour when trying to make money online) stories.

After briefly browsing (we’ve registered with the ...

Almost everybody with a decent bandwidth are into viewing videos posted at YouTube and similar sites. It’s not therefore surprising that people are posting videos as an internet marketing strategy. A fellow forum admin has tipped Bong about this, offering to teach him how to do videos as he has employed it in his sites with astonishing success. The procedure is fairly straight forward: (1) set-up a PC to record videos, (2) talk about something related to our niche, (3) put the name of the service or website we want to promote right on the video, and (4) post it ...

We stole our title from ScratchBack’s tagline itself. Okay, we took out the word “alternative” since this project has the potential to be a major online advertising tool for bloggers. It’s a new twist to the old concept of selling text links and banner advertisements.

ScratchBack is selling itself as an “online tipping system” instead of an advertising program. The idea is if we want to tip a blogger for his efforts, we can buy a link or ad space instead. However, it’s not really a link-back we are buying as a NoFollow tag is hardcoded into all links and images.

Trying to learn how to make extra money online will take us along a roller-coaster ride through various blogs and forums. It took us nearly a year to get a basic grasp of the technical stuff. All the information are there and freely available but separating real gold from the dross is time consuming.

Thankfully, Garry Conn and his buddy David tries to address this issue by compiling all relevant make-money-online posts in one place, MoneyListers. What they do is pull the RSS feed from each blogger blogging about money registered with their system, sift through the posts (and culling out ...

We were doing one of our favorite online pastime, surfing blogs for tips on how to make money online, when we came upon a post saying that a certain Garry Conn is a genius at internet marketing. This piqued our interest as marketing on the internet is the surefire way to drive traffic and earn some money.

We Googled the name and within minutes has bought ourselves another domain, www.schoolworkhelpers.com. Okay, we may wonder what a new domain has to do with Garry Conn’s blog. It’s simply that Mr. Conn has spent some time with his GoDaddy account fishing for domain names that will make money online ...

We can’t emphasize this enough, web hosting is presently a buyer’s market. Web hosting services are sprouting like mushrooms all over the net and we can take our pick of the best deals ever. However, the sheer number of choices can be confusing.

A cheap web host does not necessarily mean the best value for our money. Finding the best web hosting company for our needs is like gingerly stepping around traps. We can avoid the pitfalls by looking for the following essential signs: Operating System (OS), Number of Domains Hosted, Web Space, Monthly Transfer Volume, Site Back-ups, Support, Money-back Guarantee, ...

It is best to get paid hosting but free web hosts have their uses too. Like, if we are still practicing web development, a free web host will allow us to play with a live site. It feels different than a site we have in a web server right in our PC. The pros don’t recommend using free hosting but the trick is in choosing the best free web hosts for our needs.

Here is a checklist to make it easier for us to find that free web host: (1) Disk Space, (2) Monthly Bandwidth, (3) Automatic Script Installer, (4) Add-on ...

We decided to tell our story on how ReapMoneyOnline was built without shelling out any cash. Basically, we simply followed our earlier post on making free websites: (1) get a domain for free, (2) get a reliable web host for free, (3) and install a free content management system.

Free domain name from DNtemple.com

We tried domains-for-survey at first but found it really boring so we surfed for forums giving free domain names as incentives for posting. We found a few and tried DNtemple. It’s a young and easygoing forum which makes posting interesting and real fun.

It took us 200 posts to ...

Free websites anyone? No, we’re not talking here of free blog platforms like blogger or websites offering free spaces like Yahoo’s Geocities or Google’s GooglePages. This is about free websites with real domain names, independently hosted, and running on the best content management systems (CMS) available. Interested? All we need to do is get the following: a free domain name, a free webhost, and a free CMS.

Free Domain Name

Truthfully, there are no FREE domain names, not for top level ones at least. However we can work for one through posting in forums that give away domains in exchange for ...
