30 Oct This post is from from my other blog here interesting post, Louis Gray Jesse Stay asks his audience what they think about the mainstream state of Twitter, and concludes: I'm worried that Twitter is in a fragile state that, while it disguises the whole community as its own, seems to really have no unified community in reality that can truly say they only care about Twitter. 29 Oct This post is from from my other blog here caseywest via FlickrAfter the Hollywood stars, it is now the turn of CEOs of top tech companies to encourage people to vote. Youtube opened a new site, the votehour.org, to post all those videos in one place. In addition to watching the videos on votehour.org, you can also, as an employee, request that your boss post a similar video on the site. If you are the CEO of your company, you can easily submit your video to votehour.org from the site too. As Stephanie Condon mentions on cnet: The site was inspired ... 29 Oct This post is from from my other blog here interesting video about video SEO. First off, I'm glad to see a video service provider videoblogging; that makes more sense. I want to share some extra thoughts on this though. Yesterday, I wrote about Youtube's deep linking and how this feature could affect rankings in the video search engine. Video consumption online is making a shift from traditional search to discovery. The video space has now reached a point of high saturation, and the user ... Click here to read the entire blog post
28 Oct This post is from from my other blog here currybet.net about posting delicious links automatically to your blog. The writer gives 10 useful bookmarking tips to create compelling link pages. I don't quite use the same method to automate link posting. Delicious' problem is the lack of choice on the posting frequency: It's daily, period. Now I'm sure you can find a more flexible solution through Delicious' API, but for non-developers, the auto-posting tool sucks (with all due respect to the Delicious development ... 28 Oct This post is from from my other blog here Youtube deep linking news. Youtube has done some pretty impressive development work these past few months, releasing groovy features like active sharing, annotations, insight... Deep links enhance the abyssal feel of the Youtube video network. The deep linking news has found quite a profound echo in the blogosphere. Unfortunately, nobody really elaborated on the opportunities hidden behind deep linking. On Reel SEO, Mark Robertson raises a good point: It would be interesting to see how, if at all, ... The Wikipedia article on price comparison explains how price engines work to retrieve data: One way price comparison sites can collect data is directly from merchants. Retailers who want to list their products on the website then supply their own lists of products and prices, and these are matched against the original database. Another way comparison sites can collect data is through a data feed file. Affiliate networks such as LinkShare and Commission Junction ... Click here to read the entire blog post

21 Oct This post is from from my other blog here The previous episode of Tokoni covered Tokoni's early-stage integration strategy exemplified by the Womencount's dedicated group on the story-hosting platform. Well today is story day. What is Tokoni's story? Its original story? It implies ducks at eBay. Intrigued? Then watch the video below to understand Alex Kazim's original leitmotiv for creating Tokoni: If this kind of story had a place to be shared on eBay, it would probably add a great deal of value to some auctions. While Tokoni can add value to other content/service providers, its story-hosting platform can also add value for the writers who post on Tokoni. Tomorrow on HyveUp, ... 21 Oct This post is from from my other blog here Andy Gadiel joins us in this episode to discuss communities and music - how editorial and consumer voices are mixing to provide the best user experience, and does that framework apply to other media? Social media and its impact on events, a live concert still remains the ultimate social event - as the nature of content changes - actions are becoming content: calendar sharing, twitter, wall-posts... that content is fueling also offline event sales.

20 Oct This post is from from my other blog here After reviewing the main social features on the site, we're now taking a look at Tokoni's potential to integrate new communities onto their platform. The best example is the WomenCount page on Tokoni. WomenCount is a non-profit political organization that gives women of all generations and backgrounds from around the country a powerful voice in the political process. Thanks to the story-sharing platform Tokoni, WomenCount can concretely offer their members to share their stories on a dedicated platform. 18 Oct This post is from from my other blog here Yesterday, I started telling the story of the story-telling Website Tokoni. Tokoni launched in private beta about a year ago, and opened to the public merely two weeks ago. The idea is to create a platform where people share life stories. As I mention, some stories can be really intense to share for some, so the social set up on the site is important to make sure the stories told are well-received. The Homepage The homepage gathers a wide variety of different browsing solutions. In the left sidebar, the stories are organized by categories, keywords and genres. Categorizing stories by genre is ... Click here to read the entire blog post
17 Oct This post is from from my other blog here Blogs are now part of our daily experience online. In Technorati's 2008 State of the Blogosphere, a few interesting numbers explain the blogging trend: - 900,000 posts are created every 24 hours; - 75% of all bloggers blog for personal satisfaction. - 67% of all bloggers say blogging enhances their online social experience. Another reality of blogging is that 60% to 80% of blogs are abandoned within a month. Blogs are almost like Tamagotchis: you nurture them with attention, or they digitally die. Alex Kazim identifies the ephemeral blogging phenomenon as follows: Through blogging, people mainly want to share stories. Life stories. Drinking coffee ... Click here to read the entire blog post
16 Oct This post is from from my other blog here I'll start this article by mentioning a news item that most of you have probably come across in your feed readings: The purge of Digg's top Diggers. The problem is that top diggers were holding a monopoly on the site's activity, making it almost impossible for the social news aggregator to organize social networks within the larger social news site’s community. As Steve O'Hear mentions on this ZDnet article: "The result is that the site’s content becomes even more relevant and social to its users, while at the same time providing even more hooks to advertisers." If I get this right, the ... Click here to read the entire blog post
16 Oct This post is from from my other blog here PubMatic just released their Adprice Index quarterly report. As we all know, with the re***sion coming at us, Web startups have been warned that ad revenues are likely to go down. Most Web startups rely on an advertising model to bring cash in, so this Adprice Index should be closely examined for some. Here are the main key findings: * Throughout the year, display advertising pricing has generally trended downwards across website sizes and verticals * All categories moved down from last quarter, with the exception of Technology which stayed flat * Social Networks is still the lowest priced category with Sports a close ... 14 Oct This post is from from my other blog here Aggregate Knowledge, the recommendation engine, is a tool for discovery, not search. 13 Oct This post is from from my other blog here This week on HyveUp, I am trying out a new publishing format. The intention is to offer video content that is more adapted to the discussional Web. I basically break down the video interview into 3-4 parts, that each constitute a single blog post. Thanks for letting me know what you think. Last week, Facebook was announcing the Live Search integration into the popular social network search utility. The reactions on popular tech blogs were almost unanimous: Why? 10 Oct This post is from from my other blog here This is snappr.net presentation at the sfnewtech meetup. 08 Oct This post is from from my other blog here As I am in the post-prod of Aggregate Knowledge's video interview for HyveUp, I decided to share this chunk of video that I believe fits today's news. If social graphs are not ad preformance boosters, then why exactly shall Facebook be a money-making makina? Most ads I see on Facebook are about a friend who liked something or joined some network. I never click on those (I just never click on Facebook ads), and I don't usually care about those. That's why I don't see how integrating Live Search into Facebook will be profitable for Microsoft's search technology, branding strategies put aside. ... Click here to read the entire blog post
07 Oct This post is from from my other blog here On October 2nd, 2000, the popular P2P software company Napster was accused and sentenced for "engaging in, or facilitating others in copying, downloading, uploading, transmitting, or distributing plaintiffs' copyrighted musical compositions and sound recordings, protected by either federal or state law, without express permission of the rights owner." By outlawing P2P file-sharing providers, music labels thought they were putting an end to anarchic uncontrolled distribution channel, to impose their own traditional distribution models online. However, the deed was done. At the time of the trial, 10,000 music files were downloaded every second (and growing due to the publicity of the trial). Today ...
