Online maps are hot! Since Google Maps is in the air, especially since they started to roll out their API, it has become a breeze for site owners to complete their site's content with visual maps. Things are not that easy though: Beyond posting a map, site owners need to control the aesthetics of the maps, mark places and attach data to these places.Click2Map offers a wide-range of solutions to help site owners manage the data of their maps. Built on top of the Google Maps API, Click2Map makes it easy to create, mark, share and manage online maps. All ...

Conferences are perfect places for professional networks to grow. Sometimes one just get caught in so much hand-shaking (and cocktail-drinking) that attending all of the presentations becomes merely impossible. Conferences are time-based, expensive and dense. Conference organizers are constantly facing the challenge of delivering a maximum amount of information in a minimum amount of time."

Monetizing videos is a challenge that HyveUp is flirting with since it has become a stand-alone company. The choice is wide: Revver, Brightcove, Videoegg, and even Adsense for Youtube's videos. They all have great services, but video is not yet the best revenue-generating medium, because it definitely lacks an ad service completely dedicated to placing the right ad for the right viewer in the right video in a right fashion. CTR and videos are not best buds yet.Last Saturday, I walked to downtown San Francisco to video-interview Mark Trefgarne, Founder/CEO of LiveRail. Think of LiveRail as the DoubleClick for videos. ...

The Web has proven to be a compelling solution to tackle environmental issues on many levels: shop online instead of driving your SUV to the mall on Saturdays; share documents online instead of obsessively printing all of your emails; put your unused stuff for rent instead of letting it die in your basement...Wait, renting your stuff out to preserve the environment? That's unheard of! Well, yesterday, I went over to Zilok's office in San Francisco to video-interview Jeff Boudier, General manager/Chief evangelist at Zilok.Zilok has generated quite a buzz recently at the last Plugg and NextWeb event. Launched in November ...

Razz is stepping up in the game of talking pictures. Today, the startup launches the Talking Photos product, a tool that lets users add their own voice or audio clips to pictures, and then share those pictures with other friends on Facebook. Mashable broke the news this morning. Two weeks ago, I went to Razz' office in San Francisco to video-interview Razz' ceo Jeff Malkin. As you can see in the video, Razz sees audio-enhanced photo as a great vehicle for people to share emotions online. Razz is all about humor and allowing people to connect around funny pictures. Now that Talking ...

Scribd keeps pushing to become the place to store and find documents online. On Friday, they announced that Scribd was available on the iPhone. That's quite a surprise as the iPaper is built on the Flash technology, and Apple made it clear that flash was not going to happen on the iPhone. But they've made it!Scribd is increasingly popular on the Web. Their documents regularly appear on SERPs. Going Web-to-iPhone almost seems like a fill-in-the-gaps move to become the universal document-sharing platform. Every bit adds up to the success that the graph below best describes.

When a blogger sets up his Feedburner account, the fullfeed vs teaserfeed choice becomes a major strategy choice. A teaser is a risky choice: it's pretty naive to think that all of your subscribers will systematically click away from their feed reader to read your full article. The best way to go is to give away the whole content, and hope that it's compelling enough to push subscribers to go and participate on your site, i.e. comment.Well not anymore. Hence gReader, a Firefox plugin that uses the Disqus comment thread technology to allow subscribers to comment right there within their ...

Rich Pearson published a great article on the Attributor's blog about the proliferation of content online. The sticky fact is that Google/DoubleClick serves ads to more than 2 billion unique visitors. The writer cross-compares this data with the figure below:Attributor has developed THE tool to enable publishers to seriously consider distributed content strategies. Here at HyveUp, we want publishers ...
