Rupert Murdoch and MySpace co-founder Chris DeWolfe announced some of their plans around the MySpace Platform this evening at the Web 2.0 conference.

The platform will eventually largely mirror the Facebook Platform.

The big part for online marketers: Advertising can be included on the application pages (called control pages) and developers will keep 100% of the revenue. Ads may not be placed within widgets that appear on MySpace pages, however.

yeah, I am about done with Myspace, at least until they find a way to weed out some of the riff raff. I guess I'll keep it around to see what the new platform has in store though!

Thanks for sharing this. I guess all social networks should consider having this platform so that no one will manipulate and each will try to be as competitive as possible, making it a win-win for everyone.

Will be interesting to see what they open up.  I am thinking it will be typical myspace half-ass and they will add a little user data to the springwidgets API
