Attracting and keeping quality staff is always an issue. Seems that allowing staff to use Facebook (and Gooruze) is a way to keep them interested! When you can actually get them to do some work. October 2007 I have read a number of studies that show an increase in worker productivity if they are allowed to access personal email and "surf" the web while at work. I do it, and I also work at night and weekends for my job as well. If I was limited at work, I probably wouldn't be so inclined to put in the extra hours.

October 2007 agree blocking is a no no.
but you need to keep an eye on people's productivity. At Web 2.0 Summit they had a "grey hairs" panel, so we could actually talk to real users! (imagine that!?) ;) and it was so funny to hear one of the ladies talk about how much time she spends on craigslist and ebay during her work night... it sounded like around 80% of her time at work (she was on night shift) Reply
