Google will come out in mid-2008 with a mobile phone platform that incorporates a variety of Google online services and lets outside developers create applications. The goal is to make Google applications and services as easily accessible on mobile phones as PCs so that the company can extend its advertising business to cell phones and other wireless devices. Google may announce its mobile platform within weeks..... | ||||||||

October 2007 I heard it was going to be based on a linux platform.
I dunno if i'd hold out to buy a g-phone - arent a lot of the google apps pretty stable on the high end PC smartphones allready? If so then all google are really doing is adding another competitor to the mix. hopefully google will focus on useability over cool looks :) One of the big reasons i've never bought into the whole iphone deal - yeah it looks nice, but it's on the pricey end of the scale and for real roadworthy power theres better devices out there - i'm hoping google also realize this and arent just trying to come up with an iphone killer. October 2007 "One of the big reasons i've never bought into the whole iphone deal - yeah it looks nice, but it's on the pricey end of the scale and for real roadworthy power theres better devices out there" I bought an iPhone for a few reasons, but the MAIN one is that I can log into my adwords account with all my affiliate stuff and make changes in it. I dont know of another phone that can do that. it is also linked to my work email/calendar and personal email, its an ipod, camera, instant weather, etc.... If it could make me dinner I would marry it. Haahaha Reply

October 2007 Ah - see right now i'm not running adwords - so wouldnt have picked up on that one. The HTC phones don't let you do that?
(it wouldnt be a deal breaker for me to not get one, as i'm getting it for personal use anyway and the adwords mayhem will be staying in the office when it starts running (early next year prolly) (My bosses want me playing with such things on a phone - they can buy me it and it's hungry data plan :) ) And all the other features, weather, email, etc are pretty much the same reasons i'm shopping for an HTC - granted it don't look half as sexy! Smartphone VS iphone is becoming the new Mac Vs Pc i think :) I do allways find it intriguing how both the ipod and iphone actually lose out on a lot of comparison reviews, but always win BC of their sexy factor! that said - i have a 30gig ipod - so i guess i'm a victim of their marketing too :) Reply
