The early verdict is in: Facebook's "social ads" are a bust. Two weeks after Facebook's "groundbreaking" announcement about "a new way of advertising online," more than 2,000 of its own users have joined activist group MoveOn.org in complaining that the new system compromises user privacy. They want the social network to immediately suspend or reform "Beacon," the program that recommends products and services people buy to their friends. | ||||||||

November 2007 The early verdict is bs and I'm seeing good results. And MoveOn is a political group who would do best to stick to what they know rather than linkbaiting off topic and making themselves look foolish.

November 2007 I have to admit I do find it creepy how much of people's actions are there for all to see on facebook - most of it I gloss over as uninteresting but do wonder where do we draw the line. Wouldn't you just love to see Seinfield back and an episode based around Facebook - gosh that would be funny. Reply

November 2007 The issue about privacy control will be one of the most dynamic in the next weeks. Already Gooigle has been threatened to only taking benefits from privacy informations selling (The Economist, sept. 2007), now it's turn to Faccebook !
It's not far from seeing this issue coming into social netowrking CLUFs. Free has a price ;-) Reply
