Australian send a lot of text messages - 10.8 billion predicted by Gartner in 2008.

What I found interesting is that email on Australian phones is still lagging behind in adoption rates.  Hence why data plans are still extremely expensive for things such as BlackBerry.

The growth in texting is coming from social networks as bundled plans make it cheaper to do so.  Bring on those cheaper data plans so that people can experience a mobile web I say!
