Wow - they may have a hard time bringing them back if new habits are created.

Of course all the US shows are delayed in Australia so no change yet.

The strikes still happening? - seriously - i hadnt noticed.

I think also the fact that CNN et all are more concerned with Dead celebs or train wreck celebs almost 24-7 has a lot to do with the media shift.  Oh - and how many more low rank b grade celeb reality shows can the old boob-tube really stand?  Old media wonder shy there's a shift to more genuine programming elsewhere online etc - i'm no media expert and even i san see some of the causes.

The big TV networks are establishing themselves right up there with the MPAA and the RIAA in their head in the sand refusal to change business models - and i for one aint gonna shed any tears because the NBC bigwigs lose a couple of million this year.  in fact - i'll continue to placeshift my media, source out interesting news that matters online, watch genuine film making and documentary content etc etc etc.

As a fan of the show - one of my fave examples of how unshiftable Old media can be is the show "Doctor Who" - The US networks flatly turned the show down when it came back a couple of years ago - jump in the tardis and fast forward a few months  -the Scifi channel read about how many people *ahem* obtained the show through torrent DL's and suddenly realized there was a decent audience for it  after all. (Only problem being - most of the fans had allready acquired the content through not so legal sources)

I'm not bashing the writers - maybe they do deserve a chunk of the revenue's.  But at the same time, while theres "citizen journalists" and folks making docs and films just for fun  - they'd better watch out too, as with many industries - a prolonged strike could actually harm their trade rather than help it.
