Some mates of mine in Scotland recently launched Hubdub at Demo 08. I gave them a few pointers along the way which they immediately ignored and they have never looked back since :) They weren't pronounced Demogods at the event but the aftermath has been extremely encouraging. I just read a review on The Deal.com / Tech Confidential that ranked Hubdub 3rd out of 72 demoers at the event for business viability. Hubdub is community / web 2 style site that allows users to bet play money on the outcome of real news stories. It doubles as a news aggregation site and news prediction system that is producing remarkably accurate outcomes. I believe the scope of the pltform is pretty significant. Make sure you check it out. I should disclose that although I have not financial ties to hubdub one of my good friends Kevin Dorren is an angel investor. I guess all that proves is he is smarter than me. Get stuck in and give it a go. | ||||||||

February 2008 I believe the main target is the US so online gambling is a non-starter in that location. Beyond the US there is obvious potential. As for Peer-2-Peer gambling, now that is interesting - tie that up with a peer 2 peer loan exchange and you'd really be in business. The site is quite extraordinary once you get into, they have done a great job launching it in the US during the US primary elections, so much news, so many outcomes to bet on. By the way, its users are predicting a 8%-15% winning margin for Obama over Clinton in the Wisconsin Primary, sounds a little high to me but a good test of its prediction capabilities. You can imagine how powerful it will be at predicting dross like American Idol - Big Brother etc.
