Compared with other forms of human interaction, online social networking is really not all that social....Now a new wave of Silicon Valley companies is bringing live socializing back into a medium that has, in the parlance of the technologists, grown overly asynchronous.

Vivaty, a start-up based in Menlo Park, Calif., is creating 3-D virtual chat rooms that people can add to the Web pages and social networking profiles on the sites where they spend most of their Internet time.

Hi,

Thanks for the information.  I have been looking into a company this is due to release information on the new internet.  It is going to take the internet far beyond what it is now this summer.  The site is saying it will connect the internet and social networking with a brand new type of technology.

If you are interested you can read my blog on it at:

and read my blog on social networking here:

I would appreciate and feedback you can give me.

Regards,

Its about time they came out with a web based version of second life. There is huge potential here, however the claims that social networks arent as social as we say they are is kind of bogus. If anything they are more social than we would be in person. I guess this is a different argument for a different time. Good read tho.

You know, I think you are right about social networks being more social.  In some instances they are even more social than offline communities.  I think people are a little more skiddish at first online but after not too long they warm up to each other and become friends.  I know I have made some great friendships online.  Sometimes I do not think the "experts" know what they are talking about.  I think they just write stuff to be publishing.

The whole web will be updated to 2.0 format and our whole internet life is going to change. So hang around for the fun!!
