About 10 weeks ago, Lynda Clarizio became head of Platform A, AOL's online advertising network. It seemed that Microsoft was on the verge of buying Yahoo. The combined entity would have diminished Platform A, the core of Time Warner's plan to regrow AOL. In just 2 1/2 months, the world of online advertising changed dramatically. The Microsoft-Yahoo deal didn't work out. Instead, Google, which owns 5 percent of AOL, struck a deal with Yahoo to work together -- a move that faces industry opposition and regulatory hurdles. She's right what an amazing turn of events in less than 2 months. I wish them every success at gaining a slice of the action ...but seems she has been a bit bogged down in aligning the many parts of the organisation which have been forced together with acquisitions - some very interesting culture alignments. | ||||||||
