Seems the world's biggest social network is far from recession proof in the current economic climate. allfacebook (the unofficial facebook blog) has reported that CPM rates on the social network's homepage have dropped 50%. and Facebook has lowered it's minimum spend on the homepage from $50K to $10K. It's hardly surprising to see such a dramatic adjustment to its ad pricing. You only have to look around your favorite blogs to see an unprecedented number of blank sponsor slots. But more over - the ad rate plummet by facebook has many in the industry questioning the longevity of the social network. It might be a fraction pre-mature calling their financial bluff - but it will have their advertising team working overtime trying to remedy the shortfall.
