October 2007 The trending tool is pretty interesting. I don't deal with too many seasonal products, but I can see the use in budget planning or even what type of affiliate program to start.

October 2007 Apart from the many tools mentioned above, I really like seodigger.com. It gives you information about what keywords a certain page is ranking for on Google and in what position. The data is sometimes a bit out of date (a few weeks) but it gives you a good idea of where you stand and what keyword phrases your competition is ranking for. You may even get some new content ideas based on the competitive data they provide. Registration is free.

October 2007 I have to agree with the SEO for Firefox. I just found it this week and it's been so helpful.
I also like this site which has various tools http://www.seocompany.ca/tool/seo-tools.html Reply

October 2007 I love HitTail. While much of the same information (e.g. referring keywords and/or sites that users found your site through) can be collected via Google Analytics, I like the way that HitTail presents the keyword searches that visitors use to find your site, listed in chronological order. it's exportable to excel so it's easy to organize. I also like that you can reproduce a given search from right within the interface. And, they provide a list of suggestions of which "long tail" keywords might give you the biggest bang for your seo buck so you can customize a blog post or page to those keywords. (separate from the chronological tally of search queries or site referrals)
HitTail is free for up to 100K site visits/month. Otherwise it starts at $9.95/month which is damn near free ;-) http://hittail.com/pricing/ Reply

October 2007 That tool would be so much better if you didnt have to get a report emailed to you and could do it on the fly.

October 2007 If I had to choose 1 tool and ONLY 1 tool out of all of the tools mentioned so far it would definitely be SearchStatus
Simply cannot live without it. Reply

Just give them an OPML file and they will create a custom meme tracker that is far more useful than Techmeme and a real time saver. Reply

October 2007 Whilst not necessarily free and not online, one of the best tools has to be Excel! A great way to manipulate, cololate and graphically represent all of the data that helps make informed decisions. Pivot tables would have to be one of my favorites! Reply
