What is your recommendation for a Web Analytics package for a web site which has:

  • 4,000+ daily visitors
  • 20,000 daily page views
  • 500 plus pages
  • 200 plus simulatenous campaigns across email, PPC, online advertising
  • Standard web reporting

There is a client need for advanaced analytics features such as:

  • Navigation path tracking
  • Custom reports
  • Storing up to 12 months worth of historical data minimum
  • Access by up to a dozen simulatenous users

Ideally the solution must be able to work with load balanced servers.

Any recommendations and why?

Just about everything you need is found in Google Analytics. My good friend, and analytics guru, Avinash Kaushik loves Clicktracks.com too. If you can wait, Microsoft's new (free) analytics tool will be out in a few weeks.

If you don't mind big brother having access to all your logs, and the fact it wont be stored on location for your personal data mining purposes, then google analytics should work.

Might check out webtrends as well, but they are pricey.

Google Analytics stores your data for 25 months, but you can also keep a local copy of Google Analytics visitor data. This article by Brian Clifton explains how it's done.

Google Analytics sounds about right...although I still haven't mastered it so I have to use it along with a program that has a lower learning curve.
