I was wondering what widgets people use on their blogs? I use quite a few at my AdWords Editor blog here: adwordseditor.blogspot.com The Amazon widgets are great since they updated them. I also like the FeedJit widget for knowing where my traffic came from without having to dig into my analytics. Anything else out there that people like? | ||

October 2007 Widgets are like eating that last slice of pizza. It sounds like a good idea, but then I feel bloated.
![]() I've added many widgets, but then removed them very quickly as I realize they don't add much value. I believe I only have one right now, which is for my job board. Reply

October 2007 danlondon -- I look at this from a strategic perspective. The widgets that I choose all either a) add value to the user or b) tell them more about myself. I use the Google reader shared items widget, Flickr photo widget to display my photos, MyBlogLog b/c it shows more of the community and puts faces to names, I use the AddThis widgets for subscribing and tagging and I use the coComment widget to show the comments I have left on other blogs to extend the conversation.
I think having goals for each widget is a great litmus test to make sure you're adding value and not just adding clutter. Reply

October 2007 I use my blog both as a personal site and a professional mouthpiece, so it's kind of serving double duty. That being said, I've got an Amazon associates widget but it doesn't do much for me yet. I've also got a Last.fm playlist widget, my Flickr widget, and my Xbox Live gamertag.
My newest and most interesting widget is the Google Reader app, so I can stream my shared items right into my blog. It's cut down on my posting a little since I'm not just simply linking to things anymore and saying "go read this," but it's forcing me to be more selective with my posts and only posting about and linking to articles when I really have something to say, since the Reader widget acts as a "here's what I find interesting at the moment" stream.
