October 2007 What Gooruze should do is restrict each voter to one vote per thread, like in Yahoo Answers and other forums. Have you noticed, OTOH, that some have got 5 star votings on simple, plain vanilla, one-liner responses? Maybe votings/endorsements should be made public in the Latest Activity area in the Home page. If they can keep track of how many times I change my avatar and even list the name of the images I upload, then I don't see why they can't list voters and their votings. Reply

October 2007 Definitely still going on. Maybe the person is targeting people in the top 20 or so ranking? Getting very annoying though.

October 2007 I gave up looking at the stars and the ranking....
I have been very active posting and providing answers...and my ranking has dropped considerably over the past few days... I don't think I have provided crappy posts, ignorant responses or worthless comments... I think the ranking/voting portion of Gooruze is kinda wonky....I don't even look at that stuff now....I just know who posts good comments/articles/responses and am sure to read theirs. Reply

October 2007 The ranking sorts itself out over time. Ultimately it's weighted in favour of good advice (as voted by high ranking members) but today we increased the weighting of highly rated news.

October 2007 I've given up on that aspect of the site too. It is a *great* community builder, and we all want to keep score in some regard. I have enough trouble tracking Quality Score in my PPC campaigns, ROI, visitor behavior by segment, etc., to worry about whether I get a good score here. I like the site so far though.

October 2007 Adam, this is not the place to share your conception stories!
Anyway, I've been voting down everything of yours. I need to make sure you're a sharp and confident CEO. Not easily swayed by public opinion. Reply

October 2007 Don't worry too much as the scoring system is a little bit smarter than that. The value assigned to the vote made on your comment is 'modified' by a factor of how 'trusted' (highly ranked) the person was making the vote. For example if the member making the vote has not received positive votes on their own content by other highly ranked members then there efforts to 'downgrade' other members will be fruitless. However, if these members are highly trusted by the community (ie they are high ranking) then their votes on your comments will have an impact on your score. Hope this helps. Reply

October 2007 I have noticed that happens to me sometimes with comments and articles I post. I also feel it is not really the content of my comment or article, but more the person doing it trying to rank higher by bringing others down. Not sure if Gooruze works that way. If it does, they will need to fix quickly.

October 2007 I'm not sure exactly what you mean - but yes a vote on your comment will effect your ranking - the higher the vote the more favorable. Members are trusted to vote appropriately using the voting scale. If you think a comment is an excellent comment then give it a 5 to acknowledge it. The scoring mechanism ensures "quality" rises to the top. Reply

October 2007 In this case though, someone specifically 1 voted all of the comments i had made on a particular topic. I talked to a couple of friends and they had seen the same thing on some of their active threads. It's like they are trying to lower the voting average for our comments. So subversive.

October 2007 yes i saw your comments were ranked 1 star on your SEO question.
Looks like someone is targeting your comments, or they just didnt like your ideas on that thread much ;) wasnt me by the way :) I wouldnt worry too much, once a comment has more than 2 or 3 votes a decent ave should appear (if the comment was decent of course ;)) Reply
