I know Google PR isn't that important but my blog has 136 pages with a PR of 5 or 6, is that good or common? tomas![]() I know that with all the ups and downs of the last week that pr isn't that important but I happened upon a tool that showed internal pageranks via sphinn at http://www.livepr.info/internal-pages-page-rank.php and found that 136 of my pages have a rank of 5 or 6 (51 were a 6). Of course, this is a small percentage of my pages but includes most of my main category pages. Is it common to have this many pages with pr 5 and above? or is this above average? I simply have no idea A little background, my site is a Hispanic news site at HispanicTips.com a good ole aggregation wordpress blog that is over two years old | ||

November 2007 Tomas - It's hard to ignore PageRank when Google openly suggests in impacts ranking and then uses it to penalize sites that fail to adhere to their guidelines. As ScottW stated - you're doing well with your current PR's - but don't become obsessed with PageRank - too many site owners fall victim to PR addiction. Keep your focus on quality content and strong PageRank will follow.

November 2007 Tomas, I wouldn't call it common and it's certainly good. While PR isn't really important, it is a rough gauge of how Google perceives your inbound link value and as such can be useful. If 136 of your pages have PR5/6s then I would bet that those are your pages with the most inbound links pointing directly to them and they are likely ranking well for their topics. If you haven't been intentionally building links (I would assume you haven't since you have Q's on your PR), then this says to me that you are actively engaging your readers and providing them value - keep up the good work.
