I've been doing some research on Microblogging for work and I came by some interesting stats about Twitter. 'Six percent of online US adults use Twitter at least monthly or more frequently. Twitter users are, on average, 78% male and 31 years old, and they draw an annual income of $78,000. ' It's from Forrester's "Microblogging for Marketers" report... 6% is a huge number, I'm not sure how they got this number... I was wondering how many Gooruzers Twitter? I don't use Twitter and I don't think I'll start for personal use anytime soon, but I'm curious as to how marketers are using it to reach out to their customers. | ||

January 22nd I finally joined Twitter over the weekend.
While trying to create Twitter accounts for some of the brands I manage, I noticed that spoofers had already registered several of them... I'm in the process of creating accounts on Pownce, for when we're ready to start microblogging to our customers, but I'm not sure what the process is for buying these types of accounts back. Any resources suggestions would be appreciated.... Has anyone experimented with marketing through microblogging on Twitter/ Pownce/ Jaiku? So far in my research, I noticed that many of our competitors are microblogging, and have a pretty large following... Reply

November 11th Here's a really good Twitter guide:
www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/twitter-guide/ I use it both to keep friends updated on what I'm up to as well as for keeping in tune with the buzz in the social media space (and otherwise- I follow NYTimes for news updates) Reply

November 11th I find the 6% figure hard to believe however I'm more than happy to recommend Twitter to you. The hard thing with Twitter is measuring tangible benefits: you can't (mostly) however if you think of it strictly as a networking tool you can get a lot from it. In my case I've built new relationships where I wouldn't have had those relationships without Twitter.
My Gooruze post on Twitter is here. Reply

November 11th I use twitter but really use it as a news channel. I've subscribed to feeds such as the BBC and find it a good mechanism to remain abreast of news via IM.
My own "twits" tend to be fairly mundane and often sport related rather than using it as a channel to communicate with clients. The feed is used in a couple of personal spaces and that's probably the reason I continue to occasionally write rather than just view the incoming. Reply

November 10th i've just re-started using twitter...the first attempt was short lived (you need to make time for it to be useful), but now have found a way to integrate into my workflow...lots of twitter apps that work within outlook, mobile, etc making it easier to keep up.
it's a handy tool on a few levels... - communication within twitter network of friends and contacts (twits tend to watch their twitter feed closely) - research tool (if you select your followees wisely - you'll discover some really interesting stuff) - subtle PR channel...(you don't want to abuse this) For our customer base, which is primarily SME's, twitter isn't a channel we see immediate potential in...for a more tech orientated market, it could be far more penetrating. with regards to the forrester stats...i think their sample group was heavily distorted...check Scobilizer's response to the report. Robert Scoble puts the figures into perspective - highlighting they are way off the mark. Reply

November 10th I do, and really got into it when I downloaded Twitterific.
However, I'm having doubts with your Forrester research findings. None of my non-techie friends has ever heard of Twitter. Reply
