I'm brewing a possible marketing event (With follow ups) in Second life right now and was wondering - have any of you great folks out there used it as a promotional tool and what were your overall experiences? Feel free to drop me a message if utilizing SL is in your line of expertise too - as i say, rough ideas just now, but definitely worth talking about. Lastly - if anyone is interested in maybe getting involved in a cross branded SL experience -drop me a message for more info. I'm thinking that a cross branding event is the way to go at this point. thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Sorry to be vague about what i'm looking into - it's not new for SL, but i feel it's new territory for my current gig! | ||

November 2007 hey Alex, I've had a couple experiences tracking the momentum of events up until the event, working on marketing for a company that was getting a series A from a large electronics brand and pitching a large hotel chain client on using SL. I remember there being a web 2.0 area in SL and Dion Hinchcliffe being involved in a presentation on there one Sunday afternoon. There seemed to be a good amount of digerati type folks, but as you'll notice it was a mix of good cross-promotion from the other brands involved as well as blogger coverage in the web 2.0 space and timing; it was just as people were exploring the idea of being in there because American Apparel was and Nissan with their car vending machines. You seem to be going about it in the right way. Know your audience, get some saturation and momentum in the blogosphere and maybe tie some kind of brand into it. The other thing to consider is timezones, it may be a minimal factor for you though. just my two cents...
