December 2007 Forgive me of a little theory, I thought I'd seek clarification on what exactly is "vertical market".... according to wiki a vertical market is a group of similar businesses and customers which engage in trade based on specific and specialized needs Some examples of a vertical market (or niche market) include the following : So does seniors quality as a vertical market? Maybe not but I agree it is a target market still largely untapped. Based on the list most seem pretty covered...so what is missing from the list? environment? mining? (ore not gas or oil) Personally If I had to chose a vertical it would be media ... why? Media is dynamic, global, optimistic and is closely linked to the end consumer and social behavior....

December 2007 i think those verticals are just the start...you need to focus and find your niche within each.
financial planning for seniors banking for seniors. one of the best target markets are mid 30 year olds who need to plan for retirement. Reply

December 2007 Hard to find a decent vertical. There is so much saturation due to the internet opening up so many eCommerce possibilities to everyone who can afford web hosting. Seniors are more wired now..so i do agree there is some opp. there.

December 2007 I think there's an opportunity in the senior's market for something (assuming that's the sort of vertical you were referring to Duncan)...considering aging population around the world, greater understanding of technology (which will only increase over time) and more cashed up retirees with time on their hands.
