How do you track success of customer newsletter? anonymous![]() Hi All, I'm just starting a customer newsletter - b2b target. The purpose is to 1) educate current customers about our offerings and 2) nurture prospects in our sales database about our company updates and thought leadership. I just sent out the first newsletter to get the process going. I want to determine what measurements I should be tracking. For example, should I track number of click-throughs, time spent on website via newsletter, number of new subscribers to newsletter, etc. I appreciate any info on current newsletter programs or suggestions for measurement. Thanks! | ||

December 14th Measure what is important to you--what are you trying to achieve with your newsletter?
Most email marketers will pay attention to email "open" rates - as this will tell you how engaging your subject line was. Using a tracking URL for clicks through to your site and then track as you normally would with your web analytics. Reply

December 18th Thanks Andy. The newsletter is for customer communications - keep them updated on the company, provide expert advice, as well as drive people to register for webinars or to view customer case studies. I am definitely trying to go beyond the "open" rate metric to look at length of time on the page and revising to understanding their path through our site once they've clicked through to the article. Thanks again! Reply
