January 12th Widgets will rule! Social media portals -- big, SLOW, dense sites like Facebook and MySpace in particular -- will lose market share to blogs stocked with smart widgets, including advertising-networked widgets, apps that allow for communication (think Twitter and well beyond) and community building (see BigTent.com) as an example. In other words, I believe that centralized social media communication's center won't hold much longer. Reply

January 21st If you saw the 60 minutes article, I think Charlene Li of Forrester Research pointed out that Facebook or other similar networks have the potential to impact search engine marketing. It's the next step for personalized search and referrals that Google/Yahoo doesn't provide. For example, I go to Angie's List for contractor search, not Google. So I can use Facebook for other types of personal recommendation / search. Reply

January 4th I'm seeing in my marketing crystal ball:
the lil RSS icon popping up in the last few places it isnt allready and gasp! the general public starting to use it more. (I saw Acer have built a reader into their media center interface on some machines now) Also - wordpress will get bigger still in 08 - leaving lots of opportunities for people with wordpress knowledge and blogging skills. And "Android' will blow mobile marketing up in ahuge fashion toward the end of the year. In non-marketing: The bears will go next season undefeated, Denver will finally open a decent pizza place -and i'll make my first million! Oh -sorry -the crystal ball started to get clouded once i lost focus from marketing issues. Above all - i see another year of helthy demand for all us talented gooruze people :) Happy new year!!!!!
