I want to use Firefox as my browser of choice at my new employer but company policy dictates mandatory use of IE. They've said if I can put a compelling case together they may make an exception. For me the main reason I use FF is all the add-ons. They are awesome and very useful. Can anyone else give me some good pointers... Much appreciated D | ||

February 22nd Thanks everyone for their help with this. Following your responses I wrote my 'Justification for Using Firefox' and I got it!! Woohoo! Much love to the Gooruze community. brgds D FYI: here is what I submitted to the powers that be in IT Headquarters. RE: Justification for Firefox I respectfully request you consider my case for using Firefox for the following reasons:
Using Firebug, I can instantly see what changes to the code of a webpage would have to its appearance and/or function. This is extremely useful to illustrate the effects of possible improvements to the CX and CXagents websites. Using Web Developer, I can isolate certain code or page elements to get clearer information on their function and appearance. This is extremely helpful in identifying elements of a website that are noted for being very user-friendly or useful eg, an online calculator or comparison tool. Using SEO for Firefox, arguably one of the most useful add-ons to Firefox, I can understand in considerable details why competitors websites rank higher than CX’s website within search engines. Using these add-ons has allowed me to inprove and refine the online marketing strategies of previous companies where I have worked, with demonstrable results. I hope this provides adequate justification for allowing me to use Firefox. I would be happy to discuss any questions you have. Kindest regards David Reply

January 9th Tell them that the logo is cooler. Firefox - an angry giant fox with its tail on fire attacking mother earth....wooohhhhhhh! IE - an 'e' with a swirl...dull as dish water. Reply

You want a compelling answer? Viruses I would say 98% of viruses are written for IE. Most do not work in FF. Reply

January 9th I think you answered your own question: Add ons
Create a list of the add ons that add value to your workplace or your position and present that. (If you're on a Mac you can also point out that ie is no longer being developed for the mac and that using a browser that will only lose in terms of performance on the OS over time doesnt make sense) Pretty much everyone where i work is on ie/safari - with Entourage for mail -i've been using all mozilla products with no problems since i came on board.
