 i'm after a simple website builder (CMS) with integrated shopping cart, payment processing and product database. it's for a fairly non techie person...so it needs to be simple to use. of course it needs to build sites in an SEO friendly way. any recommendations? | ||

February 18th I have looked into a couple as well lately for non-techincal clients. ZenCart is a nice open source product and seems to have good reviews all the way around. OSCommerce is a bit more technical and in dept than what you would be looking for, and the support and tech knowledge required for maintence seems to be quite a bit more than the ZenCart or the previously mentioned WP plugins. Also I believe that the sitebuilder software has a simple e-comm shop module, though I have no hands on experiance with that particular product.  Reply

Prestashop has a great ecom package. It's French, fantastique and FREE. (Comes in English as well.) Easy to setup, (about 5 mins) if you know you're way around a server. Seems to have just about everything you'd want from a shopping cart. It's modern, fully customisable, uses CSS tableless design, etc. It's very intuitive for a non techie person to use. There's also Joomla and Drupal of course, with their associated add-ons. But that's slightly more work in setting up. Reply

February 18th thanks for the prestashop tip Mark...its a great app...not the most intuitive backend, but with a bit of digging, i found most of the functions i was looking for...
now if only i can get paypal payments to look like a seemless part of the shopping experience - it could be the winner! Reply

February 16th Its still fairly non-techie - but wordpress has a couple of great shopping cart plug ins. Here's one!
handles all the major gateways, sets up a database within your WP install, etc - i've played with this plug in and it seems pretty straightforward. Plus you get all the simplicity and ease of use combined with the power of WP (yes i admit i'm a WP addict! :) Reply
