I am in the process of starting PPC campaigns in some very competitive markets and I would like to know if any of the vendors are more reliable than in-house analytics.

I am currently investigating VeriClick, but I find any information on their accuracy or how adding their code affects page-load time.

Any information would be useful.

I am not familiar with any program that tracks click fraud perfectly.  some porgrams use a javascript code which people can go around, others track it differently that a smart person trying to rack up your clicks/costs can get around as well. checking your logs and IP's is another way, but is very time consuming.

I dont know the best way to track it, but I can give you some suggestions on how to reduce it.

1.  Try not to be in positions 1 or 2.  In many cases, these positions are not the best for ROI anyway.

2. If you do not sell overseas, or sell very little overseas, restrict your campaigns to US only.

3.  Make sure you track content network conversions seperately. If you are not converting or have a good ROI, shut it off.

I've tried a few different programs, but none lately, so i'm hesitant t orecommend - i've found that getting the refunds is the hard part though, and the ROI on time spent tracking and trying to get money back is low, unless you're talking about someone spending thousands 5 figures + every month on PPC - THEN it's likely worth trying.

Surely there are some agency PPC gooruze here that have tried 'em all?

Good luck trying to get any money back.

Google will tell you that it is not fraud, but is "comparison" shopping....

The better your evidence the better the chance you have of getting a refund.

I have a two step approach

1) Catch the low quality sites which generate click fraud - content network MFAs, parked domains, your keyword compettitors and either add the IP address to an exclusion list or stop your ads showing on their site via an exclusion list
2) Use a decent tool such as Click Forensics (free for <100k paid clicks), Adwatcher or PPC Assurance.  I have reviews of a couple of products on my site (NB they have Aff links so don't bark at me, you have been warned).

If you have an actual problem, I am looking for case studies at the moment to beta test a new service so give me a shout for a free review.
