March 21st How is it that SEM is being lumped in with IT? I mean, are we talking about marketers or developers here? If it were the latter, then it would make some sense - I would have to agree that the IT industry as a whole is mostly male; but I find it hard to believe that the search engine marketing industry is "male dominated". I'm an online marketer, but I certainly don't consider myself to be an IT professional.
I also don't think that SES is consciously inviting mostly men to speak. Maybe it's that more males than females are widely known - there's certainly not a lack of female SEM talent, and if more of us made ourselves known as top-level experts in the industry, more of us would be invited to speak, and this industry wouldn't be regarded as "male dominated".
