Tracking Sent Emails? anonymous![]() Is there a way to track whether emails sent for a campaign have been opened by the person you've sent it to? If so, what program/company would you recommend? | ||

May 6th ExactTarget reports on deliverability and open rate amongst other things. Not sure the scale you're looking for, however. Reply

April 8th I Make News provides this capability however most email marketing applications that are worth subscribing to should provide this functionality.
http://imakenews.com/imn_site/index.htm A common tactic to get the best ROI on the content used in your campaign is to resend the same campaign w/ a new subject line to those who did not open the message. Reply

April 3rd I didn't know companies could 'spy' on you to see that you've read or opened their emails! The DidTheyReadIt software program that Jenny mentioned is amazing if what they say is true - ie they know you've opened it, how long you've read the mail for, and where geographically it was viewed. I wonder if it's really specific in terms of geography.
At the moment I just do normal email mail outs, none of this kind of stuff. Maybe I should do a trial and see how things go... Reply

April 1st I was scouting around for something like this a while ago. In the end, we built something in-house, but one service I remember looking at is DidTheyReadIt. It seemed pretty straightforward, and their site was full of information.

April 1st Jenny,
what other programs did you look at? I thought most email campaign management programs reported what gets opened , bounced, clicked etc. Or have I misunderstood the question? Reply

April 2nd Um... I think there was something called Mailinfo that I looked at; it was a while ago, and I can't remember the ins and outs of it. I took the question in the same vein as you did - obviously, we can't tell if a recipient has actually read an email, only whether or not they've opened it/clicked etc. If only 'Did They Read It' was literal - that would be some clever software.
