We recently applied for gooruze to be included in google news...we thought it seemed a reasonable request; a targeted feed of news posted and ranked by the community. Unfortunately we received this response: "Thank you for your note. We reviewed your site and are unable to include it in Google News at this time. We can't include sites that don't have a formal editorial-review process for submitted content. We appreciate your taking the time to contact us, and we'll log your site for consideration should our requirements change. Thanks for your interest in Google News. Regards, The Google Team" Do you have any experience, ideas on how we can be included in google news? I haven't responded to the "Google Team" yet - I thought I'd gather some knowledge from you the gooru's | ||

April 15th Google News is looking to make sure it gets quality content from its partner sites. A formal editor shows Google that each article is reviewed for typos, bad language etc. Email me Jackie, if you need more help. Reply

April 15th Thanks for sharing Jackie! I for one have not had any experience trying to get a site into Google news, however, I know Andy Beal has. He battled for a long time to get Marketing Pilgrim into it. Maybe he can share some tips with the rest of us :) Reply

April 10th I don't have any experience, but the email does say we need a formal editorial review process... so that would mean you would have to create this process first before they would even take you to the next stage of the process... Reply

April 14th That's interesting. I understand where they're coming from -- the possibility/likelihood of the newsbot crawling and indexing a spam article is certainly there. And though there's not a lot of spam here now, if the site did get added into Google News, the spam would surely increase. I don't know, Jackie. Are you aware of any similar sites that ARE in Google News? If not, might be a big uphill climb to get in. Reply

April 15th Thanks Matt for your insight Yes I take your point - the risk of spam is a challenge. I can also see how it could potentially strengthen google's ability to capture news quickly if it could tap into such communities who usually share news before it makes it to official google news sources. In answer to your question - No, I'm not aware of others being included - as you say maybe the threat of spam is too high.
