Hi peoples,

I'm trying to construct a calender of Australian-based training and development opportunites for my team.

We're an online marketing team based in Perth (client side), but can travel. The categories I have so far include (but aren't restricted to):

  • SEO and online copywriting
  • SEM
  • Banner advertising (media choice, tracking, evaluating creative)
  • Content Management (technology, best practice)
  • Website Usability
  • Email Marketing
  • Industry developments etc

If you have any ideas of where I could find training program schedules, up coming conference line-ups, that sort of thing, I would love to hear them.  Also suggestions for good training courses/techniques that gooruze members have used.

Apart from a few courses here and there, a lot of my training has been on the job stuff, but we are a very busy team at the moment, so I need to mix external training with internal "on-the-job" development.

Anyway, would love to hear any suggestions members have.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hi Mark

Not forgetting of course all of the resources on the Gooruze site there are a couple of events I think that are worth mentioning that provide some great content.

In terms of SEO and SEM, I attended the Search Engine Room conference a couple of years back and got a great lot of value out of it. There was a good line up of speakers and some great networking opportunities. Also, not sure whether it has passed already or not for this year, but the lineup of speakers at SMX Sydney was also looking pretty good. The keynote was from Danny Sullivan from searchengineland.com. I'd also highly recommend Matt Cutts' blog from a search perspective.

SEMPO also offer some online training which I'm thinking of having a look at.

I also attended AdTech Sydney in 2007 and plan to attend the AdTech Singapore event this year in June. The AdTech conference covered a very wide range of topics and also had great networking with a very broad cross section of the online industry. AdTech parties are pretty good too by the way!

Personally, I learnt a lot on the job, from colleagues, and our agencies, but attending these types of events and keeping abreast of trends through online focused sites like iMedia, Clickz, mashable etc all helps.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Graham

Cheers Graz, I never really thought about it, but a great list of blogs would also help.
